This is Rock Hill's little gem. THE dish to order is the chicken with pasta and cherry cream sauce. I recommend any of the pasta dishes, and based on my experiences would recommend you order pasta dishes and/or chicken or seafood. My wife really liked the prime rib (Friday and Saturday only), but my experience with the ribeye left me a little disappointed. It was cooked to medium rare exactly as ordered, but it had little flavor. I don't think it was even seasoned with salt and pepper, and the meat did not pick up any char flavor during cooking. Be sure to get the fried asparagus appetizer. The salad dressings are almost all house-made. Very modest wine list won't break the bank. Well worth the visit if in the area - especially for that cherry cream sauce.

Let me get the bad stuff out of the way so that I can end on a high note. The fella and I dropped in on a Wednesday night, and we hoped to sit outside on the cute patio with umbrella tables, but the mosquitoes were out in full force, so we had to move inside. I'm not usually someone who's distracted by atmosphere, but oy. The inside of Michael's is straight out of 1984. The walls are painted either aqua or fuschia, and there are numerous fake plants. I felt like I was in an episode of Miami Vice. But I think they wanted me to feel like I was at the beach? Onward and upward! Our server was really nice and patient with our move and my tricky ordering - not quite Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally," but still worthy of an eye-roll, which he didn't give me! I got the Hazelnut Almond Chicken salad ($11.99), which was actually pretty inventive and different... and tasty. The fella got the Fish Filet sandwich ($7.99), which he said wasn't the best fish sammich he'd ever had, but it wasn't the worst. Throw in a few glasses of wine and a tip, and it was $50 - not too shabby.

Been to Michaels 3 times and food was always good. Service has always been good and friendly. Only negative is that they can get very busy and there might be a wait.

Some of the best food we have ever eaten! The clam chowder is full of big chunks of potatoes and clams, maybe bacon...the favors are marvelous, definitely he best clam chowder we have EVER had. I ordered the spinach salad which came with hard boiled egg slices, large slices of fresh mushrooms, sliced almonds...really fresh and absolutely delicious. My husband had the Reuben sandwich which was piping hot and loaded with corned beef and cheese on toasted rye bread. It came with a side of fresh made crispy potato chips that were lovely! This was a great experience and we will be coming back here for another fine meal. Service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable.

What a great experience. My wife and i recently dined here and will be back for sure. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Each member of the staff welcomed us when walking by as we entered the door. They did a great job with team service. The food was excellent. My wife had the black and bleu tuna which was cooked perfectly. I tried the mixed seafood sampler with salmon, potato crusted grouper and shrimp tempura. Each of them was delicious, but the grouper was out of this world good.

Just passing through Rock Hill and found this place on Yelp. This is no exaggeration but i just had the best chicken sandwich in my life. And everyone else with me raved about the food. The service was awesome too! Nice job everyone.

Just a truly great restaurant. I have nothing bad to say. Everything there is done with excellence and creativity. I would even go so far as to say it's probably the best restaurant in York County.
(5)Rich H.
Good food with good service. I would recommend if you are not looking for a chain restaurant.
(5)Dina N.
Exceptional. Will come back very soon. Had a special request. They executed in an amazing way

Had lunch with a friend here today. Very pleasant outdoor seating area. Had the Michigan salad that everybody raved about in other reviews as expected it was excellent! Service was a little hap-hazard and it was pretty slow. Overall a pleasant experience I'm sure I'll be back with my wife.

I always have a good experience there...seems a bit pricey, but at least the portions are generous. The tea was a bit sweeter than I normally like. The Michigan a' Bounty Salad was GREAT...be sure to order the peanut butter cup dessert. It rocks!

Convenient joint for a casual dinner if you find yourself stuck in Rock Hill SC. The deep fried asparagus are great.
(3)Racer S.
The best food that I've found in Rock Hill so far. Had the potato encrusted Grouper - excellent.
(4)P R.
Very good meal. Had the coconut shrimp - which they make themselves. It comes with a wild berry sauce - I was a little worried since I'm use to a mango sauce with this dish. But it was very good. The other dishes were the tuna and a blacken chicken which both got positives comments. Service was good.

I have taken my family and friends to Michaels for years. The last year, food and service has been poor. My LAST visit was Saturday. Most entrees were poor or mediocre. Service was low average. I won't be back.

We were passing through Charlotte and had an overnight stay at rock hill and were having a difficult time finding something other than chain gang type food. We found Michaels by chance and pulled In The parking lot and talked to a couple who highly recommended dinning here. We thourghly enjoyed our meal. I had the seafood special which was grouper piccata and loved it. My husband had the tuna and he enjoyed it very much. I would recommended eating outside as it was a pleasant evening. We even had our small dog with us. He enjoy edit also.

I have never had a decent meal here. I have been four times and every time I have been disappointed with the quality. And it's kind of pricey. To be fair everyone else that went with me loved their food every time, but I on the other hand did not.

Ordered their famous crab cakes (again). Delicious (again). Lots of crab, sparing fillers. Great flavor. Coleslaw side was small but yummy (didn't taste any preservatives). French fries were perfect. Great lunch altogether. Service was quick as well.

Ruben is superior to any other I have had. Others think so too.

You're insane if you don't eat here. We ate there for the first time a few months ago and now it's a weekly staple. Check it out.

Great food but owner isn't patron friendly.

My family and I started dining at Michael's within weeks of them opening. We frequented the restaurant quite a bit when they first opened wanting to try different dishes as every one we had ordered was always delicious. After a few weeks, we were discussing at the table how much we loved the food but the service left little to be desired and decided we probably would not be returning. Elizabeth, one of their owners, came over to our table and said she noticed we had been in several times and thanked us for our business as they were starting up; we explained to her our concerns and that we weren't sure if we would be back, she apologized repeatedly and asked we give them another try after they were about to do an in-depth training with their staff, we agreed. A couple weeks later, we returned. The staff was prompt and efficient, our drinks never ran dry and the food was as good as it had previously been. Mind you, that was seven years ago. Elizabeth continues to greet us every time we are in the restaurant when she is there, she continues to ask for and values our opinions and she is overall a very nice lady who has become a friend. Even when Elizabeth is not there, our service is excellent and far from what it was and our meals are always delicious and cooked to order. Whenever someone asks for a dining recommendation or we are hosting guests from out of town, Michael's is always first on our mind. The menu has a wide variety of delicious options sure to please everyone, the atmosphere can either be a quite, romantic date night, a birthday celebration, a casual family dinner or whatever you want to make it. This is a great local eatery with FRESH food choices, some thing that is not always easy to find around here. Whether you want a couple appetizers (Baked Ranch Sticks and Spinach & Artichoke Dip), a light salad (Michigan Bounty Salad with blackened chicken), a flavorful pasta dish (Cherry Chicken Pasta), a fresh catch (Potato Encrusted Grouper) or a twist on chicken (Lemon Chicken Piccata), Michael's is sure to satisfy!

Great local restaurant!! We have been here dozens of times and it is very consistent. The service is fantastic and the food never disappoints!!!

Make a reservation, it was great to walk right in and be seated !!!! Must go on Friday or Saturday night for the best prime rib ever. Located in a cute little house. Awesome soups and mixed drinks too!
(5)Tiff H.
Wow!! If I could give more stars, I would. The food had such flavor and character that we (my guest and I) actually had to stop talking because we were so taken aback by how delicious each bite was! This is the quality of cuisine I would expect in a Five star restaurant with the high-profile chefs! Exceeded expectations and then some! Don't miss the opportunity to eat here!
(5)Cristina L.
Wow, the Ranch Breadstick app was phenomenal! Probably one of the best Ribeyes I have ever had. Was so delicious. Service was great. Its a smaller place but should not be missed if you enjoy good food. My husband and I love trying new places and enjoying great food and this was a great experience.

Went today with 2 co workers for lunch. They had a nice crowd going and we were sat at a nice booth in the corner. Service was prompt and attentive. I had the French Onion Burger which was nicely done. Huge beef patty on a freshly made bun. I ordered the patty medium rare and was accommodated nicely. The onions were nicely caramelized and not too soupy and they added a nice different touch to a humdrum burger. 2 kinds of cheese melted on top, lettuce and tomato finished it off. I had to set my manliness aside and cut it in half to even attempt to pick it up it all went out the door and finally succumbed to the old knife and fork method. They had crinkle cut fries which were tasty and the slaw was good. Others in my party were happy with their meals which was a bonus so I will be back. I know it's hard to get away from paying $10.00 for lunch anymore and my meal with fries and an iced tea was around $11.00 which is a bit high end for lunch since I added a tip bringing the grand total to around $14.00. All in all, nice place. I'll be back to try other things on the menu.

I had been to Michael's one other time for dinner on a busy Friday night with a large group and remembered the food being quite good. When a friend wanted to meet for dinner in Rock Hill, I suggested we meet there. It was a Monday night and there was one large party when we came in and maybe three other tables. The service was absolutely awful. We could not comprehend how it could be so slow and so inconsistent with there being so few patrons. I ordered the car cakes, smashed red potatoes, and ginger glazed carrots and they arrived at best room temperature. I think our waiter forgot the appetizer and put it in after our food which left our food sitting for a while. My friend ordered the chicken BLT with fries and slaw and the fries and slaw didn't come out with the food. Instead, he finished his sandwich before the order was corrected. While my crab cakes were delicious, the fact that they came out cold and then the service afterward was very poor means I will not suggest this restaurant to anyone.

This place is the greatest! The food, the margaritas, the waitstaff, the ambience is all wonderful. This is the only place around that has Bananas Foster. It is made at your table during the week. Too crowded on weekends to risk it. Their menu reflects a good variety of beef, chicken, fish & pasta. The price is right for a quality restaurant. The chef is quite accommodating to all tastes. He can spice up or down and he gets meats done to perfection.

Stopped here because of the other good reviews. Brunch was awesome, good price and good service. Would definitely return.

I am so glad Yelp! led me here because it's as good as everyone before me has said. Try the fried asparagus...so good. Burgers are spot on. I ordered their mushroom and swidd burger and it actually had lots of both on top so you can actually taste them with the burger. We'll be back again and again.

We were meeting some friends in SC and they asked us to pick a place in Rock Hill for dinner which really didn't excite me at all. I know I sound like a snob but I didn't expect there to be anything in Rock Hill worth trying but I continuously read that Michael's was the best and finest RH had to offer so that is where we landed. The atmosphere was cozy and reminiscent of 300 East in Charlotte (or a wannabe version). It looked like a cute cottage home from the outside but it was very dimly lit and rather quiet on the inside. The decor was nothing special but it was quaint and comfortable. The menu was pretty solid. There was a TON to choose from. They had various seafood dishes, salads, appetizers, pasta, meat and veggie plates, etc. The prices were a little high so I was definitely expecting fresh and good quality. They also made mention of several house-made dressings and that most items were made from scratch so I was excited to hear that! I ordered the crabcake dinner which came with mashed potatoes, fresh homemade romoulade and veggie of the day (green beans). The crabcakes were pretty good...they were not just made with "fillers"...they definitely were mostly crab but not really good-quality crab. I would have loved the meat from an alaskan king crab to be the source. Plus, they were a little burnt so that took away from the flavor. The romoulade was good but definitely different. It was more tart and not creamy. The mashed potatoes were good but seemed "fake" even though I could see the skin from them...maybe just overly processed? The green beans were cold and hard/crunchy. Zero flavor. My fellow diners enjoyed the blackened tuna dish, the chicken sandwich and the chicken pasta dish. Everyone was satisfied for the most part. This place leaves you wondering if you really enjoyed everything or if you were just super hungry when you got there. I mean we all finished our meals but could we truly say we were satisfied...not really. Its like they have all the potential in the world and they are on the right track to success but underneath it all they are just a diner with a great exterior...know what I mean? The weird thing is that despite all the things I didn't love...I would still give this place another shot. Their brunch menu looked awesome and their homemade desserts are likely excellent (aren't they at most diners? just kidding). If I am in the Rock Hill area I would be willing to give them a shot but definitely don't buy into the hype that they are the best restaurant around. Even if that's true, you are still better of driving the 30 minutes to Charlotte. I do wish them well though!

Michigan 'a Bounty salad always very good. Strawberries, apples, walnuts, dried cherries, with salad greens. The best Secret ingredient Berry salad. Add grilled chicken. Delicious.

Decent food, although out of the 4-5 times we've been there we have only once gotten something off the menu. They have a appetizer sampler platter that is huge and enough for 2. I do think they are a little pricey for what you get. Service is a mixed bag, either they are extremely friendly or they act like you just killed their dog. Honestly we go there when we can't think of anything else, it's never a "hey let's go there" place. I'd give it 4 stars if they were cheaper.
(3)Derek B.
The food is consistently mediocre at best & the service is spotty on a good day. And when I say 'spotty,' I mean 'bloody awful!!' I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to someone I hated. Quite honestly, you'd be better off starving to death as opposed to eating here.

I live in Charlotte & my hairdresser, who lives in Rock Hill, recommended this restaurant. The food was absolutely wonderful and so was the service. I had the Shrimp Pomodoro which came with a salad with awesome homemade blue cheese dressing and wonderful bread. I could definitely tell this dish was Chef prepared. Delicious food, reasonable prices, prompt service, cold beer and a cozy atmosphere - what more could you possibly want? This restaurant is definitely worth the drive from Charlotte! In Charlotte, if you order pasta, the salad is extra. At Michael's, the salad plus bread, is included so I can't understand the comments on the prices from other reviews. I truly got my money's worth and will definitely go back!

My husband and I ate here while visiting the area based off of reviews on Tripadvisor. He had a full rack of ribs with sweet potatoes and something else ( I cannot recall). He commented that the sweet potatoes were delicious but, the ribs had some overpowering orange taste. I ordered a mushroom pasta dish and it really didnt have much flavor. Our waitress was excellent and if we were in the area again, we would give it another shot.

Visiting from out of town for work and went with a very large group, so firstly I must commend the servers and kitchen for their speed of service (and offer the disclaimer that I understand the challenges of a large party). We ordered all of the appetizers and there was nothing that even remotely "wow"ed me. It all seemed like frozen deep fried and/or smothered with cheese. Nothing artfully crafted. The same is true of the dinner. I got the NY Strip and the menu brags about the quality of the meat, but it was severely undercooked and honestly not a good cut of meat. I ordered medium rare and it was still very cool in the middle and dark red. I understand they were trying to get the food out and they were slammed from our large party....but I can't imagine I'll be back if I'm ever in the area again. Chain restaurants have impressed me more.
